Book a 1:1 Session

Confidence by Coffee, Growth by Grit | Volume 1, Edition 11

Aug 03, 2025

In this edition of Lead Anew: Insights and Growth, we delve into the liminal space between confusion and clarity, the season when you persist in showing up without a well-crafted five-year plan or even a decent night’s sleep. If you’ve ever relied solely on caffeine, sheer determination, and a prayer to keep going, this edition is tailored for you.

Some mornings, I wake up feeling motivated, while others, I bargain with my alarm clock as if it owes me something. Regardless of the mood, I pour the coffee, sit in my chair, and begin again. It’s not because I have everything figured out; it’s because something within me refuses to give up.

There have been more seasons than I can count when clarity was a distant memory. I felt uncertain about the next right step, doubted my voice, questioned my place, and wondered if I was merely chasing growth or exhaustion. But I’ve learned that even messy movement is still progress.

We often believe that confidence arrives first, neatly packaged with a bow. However, it usually trails behind courage, like a loyal but stubborn pet. We act, we risk, we stumble, and eventually, confidence catches up. It doesn’t always lead the way; sometimes, it simply waits for proof that we’ll keep going.

My grit didn’t come from grand victories; it came from keeping promises to myself in quiet moments. It involved turning in that paper when I didn’t feel smart, showing up to the meeting after a sleepless night, and staying kind when I felt overlooked. These aren’t things that make headlines, but they’re the bricks of resilience.

Some of the most significant growth I’ve experienced has occurred during seasons when nothing made sense. When I had to lead without a script. When I had to trust that discomfort wasn’t a detour but part of the process. That’s when grit steps in, not as a shout, but as a whisper: Keep going.

If you’re in that uncertain place, I see you. And I want you to know that you don’t have to feel brave to be brave. You don’t need the entire path to take one faithful step. Sometimes, leadership looks like brewing the coffee, facing the day, and choosing to keep growing anyway.

You are stronger than your doubts. Infuse your coffee with courage, lead with what you possess, and have faith that growth awaits you along the way. Keep leading anew.
